“My husband and I have tried to help animals in need since 1998. At times it becomes a little overwhelming how many need help; let alone how expensive it is to get them the help and food that they need.
“On December 19, 2014, we received word about a Great Dane/Hound that was on his way to face euthanization. He was already at the vet’s office. We learned he was under a year old, he was said to be dog aggressive, but the vet saw no signs of that and that he was a very sweet, young boy.

“Unfortunately, the shelter was full, and he was next in line. We already had 13 foster dogs with us; and, a Great Dane/Hound would eat a lot of food; but, we had just been introduced to GreaterGood.org’s Rescue Bank program and figured we’d take a chance that this program would be there for the dogs and us.
“We are so happy that the savings in dog food allowed us to save this dog. We named him Baxter. Baxter is the sweetest young man who just needed some training, and who spent a lot of time with us during his stay. He’s a big lap dog and wouldn’t hurt a fly.

“Since then, Baxter has found his forever home. He has a mom, a stepdad, two human brothers and two doggy brothers to call his own. And, he has his own couch and bed to lounge on and gets lots of love.

“If it weren’t for the Rescue Bank program, this handsome young man would not only have missed the opportunity to meet his family; but, he would have died that day, December 19, 2014. Because of Rescue Bank, we are currently able to house, help and feed 16 foster dogs. All of whom can live happily and healthfully with us until they find their forever homes.”
iHeartDogs is proud to be partnered with GreaterGood’s Rescue Bank program. Rescue Bank provides healthy food to shelters in need, which allows them to spend their funding on other needs. Thanks to you and Rescue Bank, Baxter has lived almost four years longer than he might have, and now has a loving family.
Each pair feeds 5 shelter dogs! Other styles available.
